The Club is nestled just below Culver Down on the right hand side of Sandown and is situated very close to a lovely, sandy beach (although when the tide is out it is not very close to the sea!). The beach itself is used by lots of people both on and off the water. The activities range from dog walking and sun bathing to Kitesurfing. If you prefer something more sedate then a walk to the top of Culver Down will reward you with breath taking views across Sandown Bay to Shanklin on one side or Bembridge and the mainland in the distance.
As the name suggests, the Yaverland Sailing and Boating Club is not only home to sailing boats. Our Members own a huge variety of water craft including Ocean Kayaks, Jet Skis and Seadoos, small motorised fishing boats as well as a large selection of mono and multi-hull sailing craft. Although these are predominately Laser there are a few others including a small selection of Hobie boats.
Beginners are very welcome and well catered for. You don't even have to own your own boat or equipment to start learning. The Club owns 5 Laser Picos for teaching beginners to Sail. Our Members are extremely friendly and always willing to lend a hand if you get stuck. Also, many of our Members are trained to instructor level and help out during the Beginners Sessions.
