Indiana Sailing Clubs

Description

The Bloomington Yacht Club is an association of sailing enthusiasts located about 50 miles South of Indianapolis. The club is family-oriented and cooperative members are expected to "pitch-in" on jobs such as the running of races, and site maintenance.

An active program attracts race fans, with races for all classes of boat held Sunday afternoons. We are home to Thistle Fleet 161, Y-Flyer Fleet 13, and Force 5 Fleet 105, and we host at least one regional race per year for those racing classes. Those who enjoy sailing without competition have the use of the clubhouse, docks, and power winch at any time. The BYC is based on beautiful Lake Lemon, between Bloomington and Nashville, in south-central Indiana. Bloomington Yacht Club Facilities Include: Clubhouse Deck facing the lake Kitchen Hot Shower Two restrooms Large Sail Storage area Year-round On-shore boat storage Wet Slips Beach for small-boat launch On-site camping

Description

We're an active sailing club located on beautiful Prairie Creek Reservoir just a few miles southeast of Muncie, Indiana. Our primary purpose is to promote sailing. We do this by maintaining facilities for mooring and launching sailboats, facilitating various training programs and by providing exciting social, racing and sailing programs. The sailing events include both competitive racing and non-competitive sailing events.

Moonlight sails and "sailing in concert" on holidays have become very popular sails. We conduct a competitive racing event nearly every Sunday of the season, including the annual "Mayor''s Cup" and "Ladies Only" regattas. Socials include a variety of events such as Memorial Day Breakfast, Harbor Dance, Raft Up feasts and Labor Day Steak Grill. Muncie Sailing Club was founded in 1961 and has grown to over 100 household memberships with in-water slips for over 70 boats and over 60 dry-sail spaces. The Club has evolved into a high quality facility for sailing thanks to the generosity of many individual sailors who continue to donate their talent and labor to the Club! Please take some time to leisurely sail through our website, and feel free to contact us with any questions or comments.
