Founded in 1947, the Centerport Yacht Club has served for almost sixty years as a boating and social activities focal point for the boating community in and around Centerport, NY, on Long Island''s North Shore. One-design racing has been an institution at CYC since the club was founded.
The fleets that raced in the early years were Lightning's, Comets, Thistles, Stars and Penguins. In the 1960's the Luder-16 class became very active, until it disappeared around 1982. The Ensign class became active in 1963, and is still going strong. The J-24 fleet became active several years ago but does not race under the Tri Club Association. The latest addition to one-design racing is the Ideal 18. The J-24s, Stars, Ensigns, JY-15s and Ideal 18s are actively raced today.

The Genesee Yacht Club (GYC) was established to encourage yachting and sailing, to further the arts and sciences pertaining to seamanship, piloting, and navigation, and to provide and maintain suitable clubhouse and dockage facilities for use of the members by cooperative effort at minimum expense.
Since 1934 our members have contributed their time and talents to the construction and maintenance of our facilities, and the organization of our race programs, social events and every other aspect of the club. Nothing happens without it! Working and socializing with other members builds friendships and instills satisfaction in our accomplishments while keeping our costs under control.

"One Design" means that all boats in a certain group were designed and manufactured to the same single design, enabling these boats to race ''head to head'' without any handicaps.
