Description

Attenborough Sailing Club is located about 4 miles south west of Nottingham, and about 8 miles east of Derby. The club enjoys the use of 'Coneries Lagoon' (65 acres) beside the River Trent and Attenborough Nature Reserve, an area highly valued for its wildlife.

The club began life in the early 1960s and for several years was linked to the works sailing club of the Derby company International Combustion. At that time the club was situated on the River Trent in the area of Long Eaton known as "Trent Meadows" and was known as Long Eaton Sailing Club. The club moved to its present location in 1980 and adopted its present name in June 1997.

The club supports a wide number of different classes of dinghy, particularly Mirrors and Lasers. Other well supported classes are the Graduate, and Enterprise, and increasingly the Fireball, Phantom and Laser 2.

Description

Daneshill Sailing Club is a small club with no delusions of grandeur! Our facilities have been described as poor - others have, very hurtfully, described them as non-existent! This is not quite true, but we have to admit that they are minimal!

What we lack in facilities we make up for in the welcome we give to visitors and new members. If you are a complete novice or an experienced sailor we will welcome you. If we can help you to improve your sailing we will, you may be able to improve ours!

Various boats are sailed at the club including Laser, GP14, Enterprise, Laser 16, Comet and 420.

Description

The Nottingham Sailing Club was founded in 1955 at its present location on the West Bridgford bank of the River Trent. At this point the river is wide and generally slow moving. This offers some of the finest river sailing in the country.

The clubhouse is situated close to the river bank giving a good view of the sailing activities from the warmth and comfort of the licensed bar and tea bar. Changing rooms and showers are also provided.

All of the land surrounding the Clubhouse is owned by the Club and provides a large secure dinghy park, plenty of space for rigging, launching from a concrete slip and a well-fendered jetty. There is also ample car-parking, childrens play area, and barbecue and picnic facilities.

The Club's main activity is racing with Saturday and Sunday races from March to October and Thursday evening races from May to August.

Many people enjoy their membership of the Club without ever racing. You can sail upriver for about 2 miles, mainly through pleasant countryside, as far as Lady Bay Bridge. Downstream, there is a wide section of river approaching Holme Lock. Tuesday evenings are the most popular for cruising during the summer months

The Trent Offshore Group was formed to offer affordable offshore sailing experience to its members on non-commercial non-profit making basis. Training and responsible skippering have always been major considerations within the Group and our good reputation enables us to charter top class yachts.

Our charters vary in breath from the "Trainex" - primary designed to enhance sailing skills and possibly log RYA qualifying passages to the "Sailex" - basically a sailing holiday. We also organise shorebased courses at local Community Education Colleges covering most of the RYA examinations together with the DTI Radio Examination and First Aid.

It was founded in 1983 and has around 100 members mainly in the midlands as well as active members in various other parts of the globe.
