Lincoln Model Yacht club has been around a long time, in fact it originated in 1960, and used to have both power and sailing boats in the club, This all changed a few years later and now we only have racing radio controlled model yachts. At Lincoln we sail 3 different classes with a budget for most people, and you will find most members will be on hand to welcome and assist any newcomer to our sport or hobby. Lincoln Model Yacht club meet every Sunday morning at the lake (Thorpe on the Hill) to race radio controlled model racing yachts. Our membership come from far and wide, Boston, Grimsby, and as far away as Bourne, as well as from the locality. Some members of our club also travel around the UK and abroad to race these yachts, it can get as serious as you want, and the Ultimate prize is a place in the World Championships which are held bi-annually all around the world.

If you have any interest in sailing or just want to give it a try, radio yachting will give you all the excitement you need. We race to the same rules and the same courses as big boats and dinghys and sail trimming is a fine art to get your yacht up to peak performance. Technique also plays a big part. When you have the transmitter in your hand and you are vying for position with 12 to 15 other boats on the water, I can tell you, the adrenaline begins to flow. Somebody will always lend you a yacht to have a go, and if you wish to come on a more regular basis there are generally one or two boats that can be lent until you are able to get your own. The course is marked out by floating buoys anchored to the lake bed and set out to give a windward and leeward course, and each race may be one two or three laps depending on the strength of the wind.

We would generally do 6 to 8 races on a Sunday morning, with a coffee break half way through. After each race you have time to take the boat out of the water and do any adjustments to try and make the boat go faster. Radio sailing can be done at Club, District, National, and International levels. The current World Champion in two of our classes is British, and there are two or three skippers at our club that sail at national level.

Hoylake Sailing Club is one of the oldest sailing clubs on the Wirral (northwest England). It was founded in 1887 "for the encouragement of sailing and other athletic amusements among amateurs." Other athletic amusements these days include bowls and snooker, and there is a busy calendar of social events.

The Clubhouse on Hoylake Promenade (which looks out over the Irish Sea) has a licensed bar and is open to members seven days a week. The Club encourages sailing in all its forms, from racing and cruising to simply going for a jolly at high water, and in all types of boat. But the pride of the Club is its fleet of Hoylake Opera Class boats, which were designed over a century ago specifically for sailing off Hoylake.

The fleet presently consists of fourteen boats, each of which is named after a different opera (La Tosca, Die Valkyrie, Fidelio etc). The Operas are unique to Hoylake and the only boat that exists outside the Club is in the Liverpool Maritime Museum. Opera racing is organized by the Club every weekend when the tides are suitable throughout the sailing season. Hoylake Sailing Club welcomes all comers - you don't need to own a boat and you don't need to have had any sailing experience to become a member.

We are just entering into an really exciting period for the Club, as we have recently completed a multimillion pound redevelopment which was officially opened in October 2008 by HRH the Prince Royal - Princess Anne. We are located in a new coastal park and our recently refurbished slipway gives the only true access to the River Mersey from the north shore. The location was originally chosen because of the ideal sailing waters and this is still true today.

Welcome to Southport Sailing Club, we are a Community Amateur Sports Club situated on the relatively safe waters of the Marine Lake. Here you will find all the current news and information concerning the club. The clubhouse includes changing rooms, showers, toilets and full disabled access and is available for use every day of the week for social sailing.

As with most clubs today there is no real restriction on what type of boat is sailed on the lake. However one thing to take into account is that in the height of summer the depth can be as little as 5 foot, so therefore turning up with your brand new Flying Fifteen or 18ft Skiff will only lead to bitter disappointment.

Today the fleet is a far more mixed affair than it was in the early days, it ranges from traditional kit built Mirrors, through GPs and Streakers to fast handicap boats such as RS 300s, 400s and all can be seen racing on a regular basis.
